The Private Trade Winds Seal
Our logo is a wax seal with our initials: PTW. It embodies much of what we believe about travel, and about personal service.
Seals such as these have been used around the world for thousands of years. Historians even have a special name for the study of seals: sigillography. There was a time – just a few centuries ago – when every letter was sealed by hand with wax from a burning candle, and then stamped with a personal seal. In fact, Times were different back then. People wrote thoughtful, personal, meaningful letters – they didn't Instant Message or Tweet in 140 characters or less. Don't get us wrong – technology is great. In fact, we're very proud of the technologies that we've developed that give our clients unprecedented global reach for quality-assured vacation residences.
In today's world, some important things have gotten lost. Like the personal touch. Like handwritten letters. Like taking a few extra minutes to make something special and personal. When it comes to customer service, and to travel, we are decidedly old-school.
Our seal appears on virtually every piece of correspondence that we send out. In fact, whenever possible, we use real wax and a real seal using our logo. Sealing letters by hand isn't the fastest way to get correspondence out the door. In fact, that's the point. It takes time. And thought. And care. It means something important to us, and hopefully it will come to mean something important to you as well.
For us, the seal reminds us of the time when travel was about mystery and romance and enchantment and expanding your world – not taking your shoes off in the security before shoehorning yourself into an overcrowded flight. It reminds us of a time when service was a promise and a passion, but not a corporate buzzword.
That's what we think of every time we look at our seal. We think about you. And we hope you'll feel a little bit of that enchantment when you open that seal as well.
