London is a magical destination. It embodies the grandeur of royalty and European history. For those of us that remember Mary Poppins, a visit to London feels like revisiting that childhood wonder. There are so many different ways to enjoy London from architecture, art and culture many of which can be viewed for free. London is one of the most multicultural cities in the world with roughly 300 languages spoken in the region. It has so much to offer which is why it is considered the most visited city in the world. One would think that in such a busy city people would not take the time to be hospitable but that is not the case. The kindness and enthusiasm in welcoming tourists to their city is undeniable.
You can step in any direction in London and come across something interesting to see! The city has four World Heritage Sites which are: Tower of London, Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew, Palace of Westminster/Westminster Abbey (including St. Margaret’s Church) and Maritime Greenwich. It is convenient to walk, hop in a taxi or take the
London Underground which is the oldest underground railway network in the world. Of course there are many iconic landmarks like Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and Tower Bridge. Even though London is steeped deep in history it continuously evolves with new modern sites and experiences. The Shard which is a 95 story building sits high above London and offers
spectacular views of the city. If you are still craving a view high above London then The London Eye shouldn’t be missed. Built in 2000, this enormous Ferris wheel sits on the South Bank of the River Thames and offers a unique experience.
When looking to find accommodations that will make you feel like royalty, Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences will exceed your expectations. London appeals to every age range and interest. Travelling with children, adults or even alone can be enjoyed in this historic city. When I was a child I remember waiting for hours to view the wedding gifts of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. My parents (especially my mother) were big fans and thought it would be a special event that we would all appreciate. Of course, there were gifts befitting royalty, but it was the unique pieces that were so interesting. Gifts from all over the world representing different countries were each so special, and at times seemed even odd! It is that combination of old and new that encapsulates this great city. There truly is something for everyone in London.
